Rabat – European People’s Party (EPP) Vice-President Mariya Gabriel has commended the Morocco-EU strategic partnership.
Gabriel made these statements following the EPP Youth’s annual Euro-Mediterranean dialogue meeting on Friday in Rabat, Morocco.
“Morocco plays a particularly important role in this [Euro-Mediterranean] partnership, which offers real solutions to real challenges,” Gabriel said.
The EPP vice-president said that the partnership will help both parties address key challenges in economic development, energy, and agriculture, calling to further strengthen ties in these sectors.
She commended the North African country’s role in Morocco-EU relations and saluted King Mohammed VI’s forward-thinking vision, saying it has accelerated Morocco’s development pace and improved its resilience to challenges.
Gabriel pointed to Morocco’s successful approach to youth integration in development policies, suggesting other countries could learn from this model.

The meeting marks the first time the EPP Youth’s annual gathering has taken place outside Europe, focusing on the theme “Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue: Towards Mutual Understanding and Convergence.”
The event, organized jointly by the EPP Youth, National Rally of Independents (RNI) National Youth Federation, and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, was an opportunity to point to young people’s crucial role in addressing shared challenges across the Mediterranean.
Participants discussed innovative solutions to common problems facing both European and North African shores, and the gathering reflects a significant step in strengthening Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, with youth taking the lead in developing new approaches to shared regional challenges.
The choice of Morocco as the host country proves its growing significance as a strategic partner for the European Union in the Mediterranean region.
