Real Madrid will take on Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semi-finals, and all eyes will be on the duel between the Atlas Lions Brahim Diaz and Nayef Aguerd.
Today’s draw also selected record 31-time winners Barcelona, who last lifted the trophy in 2021, to host Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in the first leg before visiting Metropolitano Stadium.
The semi final first legs will be played on February 26 with the return legs set for April 2.
Brahim Diaz was key in Madrid’s dramatic 3-2 win over Leganes. Los Blancos looked in control at 2-0 but saw their lead diminish. Then, Gonzalo Garcíaup stepped up with a stunning 93rd-minute winner to seal the win. Diaz’s energy and movement in midfield kept Leganes defenders on their toes, and now they are on track to lift their 21st Copa del Rey title.
Meanwhile, Nayef Aguerd was rock solid at the back for Real Sociedad. His team brushed aside Osasuna 2-0 half an hour into the game.
At the end of the game, Aguerd was rated 7.0 and completed the most passes in the match. Sociedad has now reached the semis for the first time since winning the trophy in 2020.
