Real Sociedad centre-back Nayef Aguerd is ready to step onto the pitch against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final after being called up for today’s match squad – just days after being forced off against Leganes with a thigh injury.
The 28-year-old Moroccan limped off the field in the 32nd minute, sparking fears he might miss the next big game against Real Madrid. But coach Imanol Alguacil confirmed Aguerd is back.

“Aguerd is optimistic. He missed training as a precaution, but he should be ready for the game,” Imanol revealed. “He told me he wants to play. The muscle injury is small, and he feels good.”
Fans of Moroccan football and Real Sociedad fans had been holding their breath after the defender sat on the pitch with a worried look on his face – holding his right thigh.

All eyes will be on the duel between Atlas Lions Brahim Diaz and Nayef Aguerd. Brahim is expected to feature in the starting eleven as it is customary in cup matches to rotate the squad and improve supporting players’ form by getting more games under their belt.
The game starts at 8:30 Moroccan time at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastián. Fans can catch the action live on L’Équipe and SSC.
“Madrid is the biggest team, but we have beaten them before,” Imanol said. “We respect them, but we believe in our chances. The players are ready to fight.”
