Rabat — Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) announced today a historic partnership with Delta Air Lines, launching a direct flight between Marrakech and Atlanta, Georgia.
“This flight marks a historic turning point and is the second direct connection established between the United States and Morocco in the past two years,” a statement from ONMT said.
The flight will start operating its services between the two destinations in October this year, on a Boeing 767-400 with 238 seats. The flight will fly between the two destinations three times a week.
The tourism office further explained that the flight reflects an ongoing commitment to facilitate access to Morocco and enhance its attractiveness in North America.
The statement also expressed satisfaction with the partnership between the office and Delta Air Lines, noting that the airline is set to contribute to Morocco’s tourism growth as well as exchanges between Washington and Rabat.
Sharing data on US tourists in Morocco, the office said 402,377 American tourists visited Morocco last year. This number shows a 7% increase from 2023.
In January 2025, over 26,777 American visitors flew to Morocco, showing a 31% increase from the same period in 2024.
“The ultimate goal is to exceed one million American tourists,” ONMT said, noting that the launch of the new direct flight is a key step in ONMT’s strategy to position “Morocco: Kingdom of Light” on the map of major global tourist destinations.
In October last year, ONMT also announced the launch of the first direct light from New York to Marrakech, which is part of an agreement between the tourism office and United Airlines.
“A first trip was scheduled for 35 American travel consultants to visit Morocco. In addition to the United Airlines delegation, the flight included 35 travel consultants from the two largest American groups specializing in luxury tourism,” ONMT said in a previous statement.
