Rabat – The National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) has described Marrakech as the tourism capital of Morocco, as the city continues to attract thousands of visitors during the holy month of Ramadan.
Secretary General of the CNT Mustapha Amalik said the city continues to boost its position as the tourism capital of Morocco, attributing the situation to efforts by stakeholders in the tourism sector.
“The Marrakech Safi region as a whole experience sustained tourism dynamics throughout the year,” Amalik added, noting that professionals in the sector offer different services that attract tourism from all categories.
In his statement to Moroccan news agency MAP, he said many tourists choose Marrakech as their holiday destination, especially during the holy month to explore the cultural aspects of the city.
“Ramadan is an ideal time for innovation through the presentation of a rich and varied tourism product, where hospitality, sharing, solidarity, and spirituality come together,” he said, pointing out that the upcoming school holidays will also have a very positive impact on the arrival of domestic tourists.
Earlier this month, Morocco’s Tourism Ministry celebrated positive statistics, noting a remarkable surge in the industry.
The ministry said nearly 2.7 million tourists arrived in Morocco by the end of February.
Marrakech is among the top destinations visited by local and international tourists, and has made the top of lists in international magazines featuring Morocco’s destinations.
In January, TripAdvisor featured Marrakech as one of the “Best of the Best Travel Destinations” for 2025.
Describing the Red City as a “magical place,” TripAdvisor invited travelers to explore the open courtyards and snaking alleyways of the medina and the inner peace at the Jardin Majorelle.
Visitors can also “take in the beauty of the city’s historic mosques,” the travel website said.
Morocco attracted over 17.4 million tourists last year, and the country is further interested in attracting more tourists in the coming years.
By 2030, Morocco aims to attract at least 26 million tourists.
