Meknes – Real Madrid manager José Mourinho confirmed that the absence of Moroccan international Brahim Diaz, alongside several other players, is a cause for concern, noting that the player will join the Royal Club’s training this coming Monday following the end of his summer vacation.
Speaking to the club’s official media following the 2–2 friendly draw against Fiorentina, the Real Madrid manager pointed out his pre-season frustrations.
“I’m concerned about not having everyone, and I would like to have three weeks of work with the others. It’s not possible. On Monday, Vini Jr., Brahim, and Bernardo will arrive,” Mourinho said.
The pre-season fixture ended in a 2–2 draw against Fiorentina, giving valuable minutes to players already in camp, including Endrick and Dumfries. While the match offered a useful test, Mourinho reiterated that full tactical progress will remain on hold until the rest of the squad arrives.
Until those deep-run international players complete their extended recovery, Mourinho will continue building match fitness with the core group currently in camp, bringing the squad back to full strength step by step.
“Dumfries, Carlos, and Endrick will already have a few more days of work. Little by little, until the boys who played in the World Cup semifinals and final arrive, with the final being only Cucurella,” Mourinho concluded.
During the 2025–26 season with Real Madrid, Diaz made 42 appearances across all competitions, serving primarily as an impactful rotation option. In La Liga, he featured in 30 matches, scoring one goal and providing six assists.
With intense competition for places in the starting lineup, securing regular starting minutes remains Brahim’s primary goal. His return to training will be a fresh opportunity to push for a more prominent role in the squad this season.
