Rabat – Experience Eid Al-Fitr in Morocco, where mussalas and mosques come alive as millions gather for special Eid prayers.

From the young to the elderly, everyone dons elegant traditional attire—white or vibrantly colored djellabas, fokia, and gandouras—creating a festive and culturally rich celebration.

Tens of thousands of mosques and mussalas, celebrate Eid prayers across the country.

The following photos were taken in Ain Aouda,  a city situated in the suburban area of Rabat.

Eid prayers take place early in the morning of Eid, gathering millions of mosque goers across the country.

The prayer includes two units, beginning with the Takbir, and in each unit, Al-Fatiha and another surah of the Quran are recited.

A series of Takbirs or Allah-u Akbar are recited in the first unit. While in the second unit, a series of Takbirs are recited after the recitation.

Takbir has sounded and echoed across Morocco.

Following the prayers, families gather around the breakfast table, where homemade sweets take center stage.

The sweets are also accompanied by an array of traditional Moroccan pastries like “msemen,” “baghrir,” and “harsha” as well as fragrant mint tea, as the king of Moroccan breakfast tables.

In some Moroccan neighborhoods, neighbors and relatives often exchange plates of sweets as a gesture of goodwill and shared celebration.

Children will wake up in the early morning, not for breakfast and not for a any other purpose  than to proudly don the new clothes bought by their parents, specifically for Eid Al Fitr.

They will also wait for their family members to give them money in cash. Throughout the day, the spirit of tradition and family compliment each other, to make Eid Al Fitr one of those special days in any Moroccan’s calendar.
