Rabat – Morocco’s U-17 football team is set to play against South Africa in a quarterfinal match of the 2025 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations, aiming for a spot in the semifinals.

The match will kick off today at 8:00 pm local time at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, Morocco. Fans can catch the action on Moroccan sports channel Arryadia.

The Atlas Lions enter this match as one of the strongest teams in the tournament, having topped Group A with 7 points. They secured two victories, against Uganda and Tanzania, and drew against Zambia.

The Moroccan team is the only one in the competition’s group stage that has yet to concede a goal. They have scored 8 goals, making them the second-best attack in the tournament after Cote d’Ivoire, which has scored 10 goals.

Meanwhile, South Africa finished second in Group B with 4 points after one win and one draw, but they also suffered one defeat. The team scored 4 goals and conceded 8 during the group stage.

Morocco’s coach, Nabil Baha, said it is important to win this match against South Africa to reach the semifinals and keep alive their dream of winning their first-ever continental title.

He said, “We are focused, and there is no room for mistakes. We are handling the pressure with the confidence we gained from our group stage matches, and we have no excuses not to make it to the semifinals.”
