Rabat – The National Airports Office (ONDA) has announced that check-in services have been fully restored across all airports in Morocco.
In an official statement, ONDA confirmed today that “check-in and boarding procedures are now operating normally at all airports in the country.”
The disruption followed a widespread power outage that occurred yesterday in the Iberian Peninsula, which affected the connectivity of certain telecom operators.
ONDA expressed its gratitude to travelers for their patience and understanding during this incident, which was beyond its control. The office also reaffirmed that its teams remain on hand to assist passengers and ensure their comfort.
Yesterday, passengers departing from Moroccan airports faced disruptions after the power outage impacted several telecommunications links.
ONDA also issued a statement yesterday, explaining that the outage disrupted systems responsible for check-ins and boarding card issuance.
The massive blackout swept across Spain and Portugal on Monday, closing down key cities, crippling public transportation, and immobilizing telephone networks, traffic lights, and ATMs.
In addition to plunging millions into darkness across both countries, the blackout also caused some disruptions in southern France and Morocco.
Some telecommunication operators, particularly those connected through servers based in Spain, like Orange Maroc, reported connection failures, directly affecting airport operations.
In the meantime, all airports across Morocco have shifted to manual procedures for check-in and boarding operations.
ONDA encouraged travelers to reach out to their airlines before heading to the airport to confirm flight status. It also advised passengers with confirmed bookings to arrive early to complete travel formalities under smoother conditions.
Now, the power is restored, ONDA reassures, and everything is back to normalcy.
