Rabat — Morocco and Nigeria will face off today as part of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is taking place in Egypt until May 18.
Today’s Morocco match will take place at the June 30 Stadium at 7 p.m. Moroccan time.
Morocco and Nigeria are part of Group B, which also includes Tunisia and Kenya.
The Atlas Lions are topping Group B with three points, followed by Nigeria, Kenya, and Tunisia.
Morocco started the competition with a 3-2 win against Kenya, and Nigeria were lucky enough to score one against Tunisia in their first game as well.
According to the Confederation of African Football, Morocco’s win against Kenya showcases their extended unbeaten run in their last seven group-stage matches at the finals.
“The five-goal thriller against Kenya was the first time Morocco had been involved in such a high-scoring game at the finals since their 4-1 loss to Egypt in 1997,” CAF wrote.
The confederation also highlighted the team’s performance during the Kenya game, when Morocco recorded nine shots on target, “the most of any team in the first round of matches.
As for Nigeria, this will be their 99th match in the competition’s history.
People seeking to watch the game can do so on StarTimes and CAF TV.
According to Pulseports, Morocco’s squad is “packed with talent from top European clubs,” describing the Moroccan squad as a “formidable force on paper.”
As for Nigeria’s team, known as the Flying Eagles, Pulsesports said that this team is backed and supported by former players like Victor Osimhen.
It remains to be seen who is going to control the game with passes and shots, but most importantly, who is going to win.
