Brahim Díaz could offer the spark Arsenal need to challenge for silverware next season

Arsenal are lining up a summer move for Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz, with Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of next year’s campaign.

According to Fichajes, the Gunners boss sees the Moroccan playmaker as a versatile addition who could slot in across the frontline, particularly on the left flank, where Gabriel Martinelli’s form has raised eyebrows in recent months.

Arteta, who worked with Díaz during his time at Manchester City, believes the €45 million-rated can offer fresh energy in attack, provide cover for Bukayo Saka on the right, and deploy Martin Ødegaard in the No.10 role.

What happened to Díaz?

The 25-year-old has impressed in flashes at the Bernabéu this season, notching key goals and assists when called upon. However, with the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr., and Jude Bellingham commanding the spotlight, opportunities have been limited for the former Milan loanee.

Madrid’s crowded frontline – now further complicated by the emergence of Arda Güler and the return of Nico Paz – has pushed Brahim down the pecking order. Sources close to the club suggest Los Blancos would consider letting Díaz go, should an acceptable offer arrive.

That’s where Arsenal step in. The North London side are ready to pounce, banking on Díaz’s desire for regular minutes and a prominent role in a side competing on multiple fronts.

How many Real Madrid players are on the transfer list?

Real Madrid is reviewing the futures of many players as the club targets key reinforcements during the summer transfer window, especially in the back line.

Rodrygo attracting interest

Rodrygo’s future remains up in the air. The Brazilian has struggled for consistency this season and is no longer guaranteed a place in the starting XI. Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring his situation, with reports suggesting an €80m offer has been made.

Vázquez expected to move on

Lucas Vázquez is approaching the end of his contract and may not be offered fresh terms. The 32-year-old has filled in across defence and midfield in recent seasons but is expected to move on as Madrid look to refresh their full-back options.

Mendy’s injuries raise questions

Ferland Mendy’s availability has been limited by injury, and with Madrid exploring alternatives at left-back, his long-term future at the club is in doubt.

Defensive changes possible

David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger are both under consideration as part of Madrid’s defensive reshuffle. Alaba, 32, has been sidelined by injury, while Rüdiger’s place is not guaranteed amid growing interest in emerging talent Dean Huijsen.

Lunin seeking more minutes

Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin may also depart in search of regular football. With Thibaut Courtois back to full fitness, the Ukrainian could be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives.

Modrić nearing Bernabéu farewell

Luka Modrić is expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 39-year-old midfielder has been a key figure during his time at the club, but has featured less frequently in recent months.

Real Madrid are expected to shuffle their squad during the summer transfer window as they enter a new phase under the president Florentino Pérez, aiming to remain competitive across all fronts
