Rabat – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Rommani in the province of Khemisset in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region on Friday.
The earthquake took place at 12:12:44 p.m. at a depth of approximately 23 kilometers, seismic platforms said.
Some residents said they felt the earthquake slightly, especially in remote areas in Rommani.
No casualties were reported.
Earlier this month, an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude also hit the Marrakech region, with many people feeling the struck that caused public concern and alarm.
A resident in Marrakech told Morocco World News (MWN) that she “felt like it lifted my house in the air then dropped it down.”
She added: “It was quiet and calm, then what felt like a gust of wind lifted the house, then dropped it with a jolt. I looked outside, but the wind wasn’t blowing. I knew it was an earthquake.”
The quakes came nearly two years after the devastating Al Haouz earthquake, which struck the region on September 8, 2023.
The earthquake killed nearly 3,000 people while injuring over 5,000 others, affecting rural areas and leaving many people homeless.
