Rabat – An Israeli drone strike hit al-Ahli Hospital, also known as the Baptist Hospital, in Gaza City, killing at least three journalists and critically injuring a fourth.

The hospital director confirmed to Al Jazeera that Israeli forces targeted the medical center, making it the eighth time the hospital has been bombed since the war on Gaza began in 2023.

Among the journalists killed were Ismail Badah and Sulaiman Haja, both of whom worked for the Palestine Today TV channel. They were inside the hospital at the time of the attack.

Photos shared online show mourners carrying the blood-covered body of one of the journalists.

At least 23 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza today.

Hamas released a statement condemning the strike, calling it a “new crime” and accusing Israel of trying to silence journalists who report on the war. “The occupation’s targeting of journalists is a systematic crime aimed at silencing them and obliterating their testimony to its crimes,” the statement said.

Hamas also urged the international community to act quickly to protect journalists and to hold Israel accountable for its continued attacks on civilians and media workers.

Since launching its genocidal war on Gaza, Israel has killed over 230 journalists and media workers, making it the deadliest ever for journalists.

More journalists have been killed in Gaza than in both world wars, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan combined, according to the Costs of War project.

“It is, quite simply, the worst ever conflict for reporters,” the project said.
