Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has reached a settlement over his alleged involvement in sharing explicit videos without consent.
The 22-year-old was charged alongside three former Real Madrid academy players with distributing child pornography and unlawfully sharing private content.
The case relates to videos recorded in 2023 in the Canary Islands, where two women – then aged 16 and 18 – were filmed during sexual encounters without their knowledge. Asencio was not present during the incidents but is accused of later showing the footage to others.
Under the reported agreement with the victims, Asencio’s actions would be classed as a minor offence, likely resulting in a fine rather than jail time. This would separate his case from the ongoing prosecution of the three other defendants.
However, Spanish prosecutors are still pursuing criminal charges against all four men. Investigators have recommended a four-year prison sentence for Asencio.
The private prosecutors representing the victims had sought sentences of four years and ten months for the three main defendants – none of whom is at Real Madrid.
Asencio has maintained his innocence, issuing a statement in May denying any criminal activity. Real Madrid have continued to support the player, including providing legal assistance.
The defender recently signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2031. His case remains pending final resolution in court.
