Born in Nancy, France, in 2001, El Aynaoui is 1.82 metres tall and plays as a central midfielder. He began his career at AS Nancy-Lorraine and later moved to RC Lens, where he featured in 49 league games, scoring nine goals and providing three assists. In July 2025, he joined AS Roma on a five-year contract.
El Aynaoui is a box-to-box midfielder, able to defend, carry the ball forward, and support attacks. Compared with Morocco’s current midfield, Sofyan Amrabat provides defensive stability, Azzedine Ounahi offers creativity and dribbling, and Sofiane Targhaline brings youthful defensive flair and long-range passing. Aynaoui adds a blend of defensive cover, forward runs, and tactical experience, giving coach Regragui more options in central midfield ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next December.
