Rabat – Co-hosts Uganda are set for a massive test as they take on defending champions Senegal in the quarterfinals of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 today.
The game will be played in Uganda, giving the hosts strong home support as they look to continue their historic run in the competition.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 local time (3 pm GMT+1). Fans can follow the action live on CAF’s official broadcast partners across Africa and through international broadcasters. Updates will also be available on CAF’s digital platforms.
Uganda are enjoying their best-ever performance at CHAN, reaching the knockout stage for the first time in seven attempts. The Cranes have been exciting to watch, as they scored eight goals in just four games, their highest tally in a single tournament.
Allan Okello has been the star man, scoring three goals in three consecutive matches, the first Ugandan player to achieve such a record at CHAN.
Senegal, the defending champions, remain a strong opponent despite a quiet start to the tournament. They scored just two goals in the group stage but have one of the best defenses, conceding only once and keeping three clean sheets.
The Teranga Lions are unbeaten in their last seven games and are known for their discipline in knockout football.
If Senegal win, they would become only the second defending champions to reach the CHAN semifinals, after Morocco.
This quarterfinal promises a classic contest between Uganda’s attacking flair and Senegal’s defensive strength. The Cranes will count on the home crowd to push them forward, while the Teranga Lions will look to use their experience as champions to edge through.
