Rabat – The Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE) and the US Embassy in Rabat have welcomed 22 new American Fulbright grantees to Morocco for the 2025- 2026 academic year.
This year’s group in Morocco will take part in research, teaching, and cultural exchange across the country. MACECE said in a press release that the aim is to help strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
The new cohort includes research students, who are early-career scholars studying subjects such as public health, desalination and water security, and sustainable architecture.
It also includes senior scholars, who will teach and research topics ranging from Morocco’s growing creative arts industry to military cooperation, and the links between soft skills and artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) will work as English professors in public universities in eight Moroccan cities.
The new cohort also includes participants in the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research, K-12 educators who will be conducting education-related research projects in Morocco.
The grantees will begin their stay with an orientation week in Rabat to prepare for academic, cultural, and professional life in Morocco, added the statement.
Cultural exchange bridges differences and strengthens alliances
The English Teaching Assistants will also receive special training on Morocco’s higher education system and teaching practices. A reception at the US Embassy brought together the new participants with Moroccan and American Fulbright alumni, MACECE Board members, and US diplomats.

“Each year, the arrival of new Fulbright grantees to Morocco reaffirms our belief in the enduring power of educational and cultural exchange to bridge differences and strengthen alliances,” said Rebecca Geffner, Executive Director of MACECE
The participants, through research, teaching, and creative work, are building collaboration that reflects the shared values of both Morocco and the US, she added.
The Fulbright Program is the US government’s flagship international exchange initiative, aiming to promote mutual understanding between the United States and other countries.
The program was created in 1946 by US Senator J. William Fulbright with the goal of promoting mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries. It currently operates in more than 160 countries worldwide.
