Rabat – Elche still has Hakim Ziyech in its sights even after the transfer window closed.
According to Spanish daily AS, the possibility of bringing the Moroccan winger back to La Liga has resurfaced after talks that once appeared to fade away.
Both sides had already opened discussions earlier, but Ziyech’s salary demands cooled the interest of the club.
“We are open to considering free options, and this is no exception. We will consider anyone who can improve the team, as always,” commented Pedro Schinocca, Elche’s general manager, regarding Ziyech’s option.
“We are happy with the market. We have done a thorough job,” Schinocca added.
The dialogue now resumes, although the same financial hurdle may once again block the path.
Freshly promoted to the Spanish top flight, Elche searches for a player who can add experience and stature to its squad.
Ziyech fits that profile with a career that spans Ajax, Chelsea, Galatasaray, and Al-Duhail.
The midfielder has faced challenging years. After his transfer from Ajax to Chelsea in 2020, he struggled to secure a regular spot. Brief stints at Galatasaray and Al-Duhail also fell short, leaving him clubless for much of this year.
For the Moroccan international, a move to Elche could serve as a new chapter before the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2025 on home soil.
His previous season left him with little playing time, as he parted ways with Galatasaray and later left Al-Duhail after just 13 matches.
Elche sees in Ziyech the type of high-level recruit who can lift the team, but whether the financial gap narrows enough for a deal remains an open question.
