Rabat — Police found pig heads outside several mosques in Paris and surrounding areas Tuesday morning, prompting authorities to launch an immediate investigation into what officials called “despicable acts.”

The disturbing discoveries occurred at mosques in Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, east of Paris, and Hauts-de-Seine, southwest of Paris.

Laurent Nunez, Paris police chief, announced the findings on social media platform X, condemning the incidents as “abject acts.”

He assured the public that authorities have opened an investigation and are “doing everything possible to find those responsible for these despicable acts.”

Police continue to gather evidence at the affected locations.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau expressed his support for the targeted Muslim communities on X, calling the provocations “unbearable.”

He strongly criticized the attacks and said that  “targeting places of worship shows unfathomable cowardice.”

The minister offered his full support to mosque leaders and worshippers affected by these incidents.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or released details about potential motives behind the coordinated attacks.

Islamophobia in France

Islamophobic acts in France are rampant, targeting Muslim individuals and worship centers.

In June, police opened an investigation following a complaint filed against an individual who targeted a new mosque in the Villeurbanne district in Lyon.

The man was suspected of breaking  into the mosque, stealing the Quran and setting it on fire.

Earlier in May, the president of the Sucy Muslim Cultural Association Driss Soussi reported  a voicemail which contained Islamaphobic insults and threats to slit their throats. Police arrested a suspect and took him into custody.

National marches against racism and Islamophobia have been on the rise following a heinous Islamophobic attack against a Muslim man inside a mosque in France.

The perpetrator of the attack stabbed Aboubakar Cisse, a Muslim living in France, around 40 to 50 times while he was praying. He insulted God, Islam, and Muslims while documenting his heinous attack.
