The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadéra, expressed his “profound gratitude” on Monday in Casablanca to King Mohammed VI.

Touadéra expressed his gratitude for the King’s role in the successful investment roundtable dedicated to financing CAR’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2024-2028.

“Allow me to reiterate, on behalf of the Central African people and in my own name, our gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the fraternal attention given to the success of this meeting,” said the Central African president in his closing address.

The two-day event succeeded in mobilizing $9 billion for financing the Central African Republic’s NDP.

Touadéra pointed out that Casablanca “will henceforth remain engraved in collective memory as a new stage in the transformation of the Central African Republic.” He said he believes that this roundtable allowed his country to share its vision of the future and show the world that it is “not only a territory rich in resources, but also and above all, a space of resilience, innovation and opportunities.”

According to the Central African president, the objective of the meeting was not only to mobilize the public and private financing necessary for implementing the NDP 2024-2028, but also “to weave a pact of trust and open a new chapter of cooperation with technical and financial partners.”

The Central African Republic is “determined to place itself at the heart of regional and international dynamics,” he affirmed, adding that the Casablanca roundtable “seals an alliance between a people’s ambition and their partners’ confidence.”

The closing session of this roundtable was held in the presence of, notably, the ambassador and permanent representative of Morocco to the UN, Omar Hilale, and the ambassador and director general of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal. Also in attendance were representatives from various regional and international organizations, donors, and the private sector.
