Morocco’s national team coach, Walid Regragui, stressed the importance of winning the upcoming matches against Bahrain and Congo to sustain the team’s positive momentum and improve its FIFA ranking

Speaking at a press conference in Salé, he noted that Morocco currently holds the top spot among Arab and African teams, reflecting consistent performance.

Morocco has now won 13 consecutive games, including all 7 World Cup qualifier games. Their last victory over Zambia secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico, making Morocco the first African nation to book a spot in the tournament.

Following the win over Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers, Morocco climbed to 11th place in the FIFA World Rankings, overtaking Germany, who now sit 12th.

Regragui also defended the choice of Bahrain for the October 9 friendly in Rabat, citing their strong showings against Japan and Saudi Arabia.

He also talked about injury-related absences, including key players like Soufiane Rahimi, Achraf Dari, Azzedine Ounahi, and Noussair Mazraoui, but reassured that the squad is filled with talent and ready.

Morocco will face Bahrain in a friendly on October 9, followed by a World Cup qualifier against Congo on October 14, both at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
