Rabat — Hundreds of Moroccan fans traveled from Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport to Santiago, Chile, to attend Morocco’s U20 team World Cup final match.

Moroccan news outlet Le360 said, despite challenges linked to visa procedures, at least 590 Moroccan travelers boarded two Boeing 787s flights on Saturday on a direct trip to Chile’s capital.

This comes as Royal Air Maroc announced two special flight packages to transport Moroccan fans seeking to watch the final game and cheer on the Atlas Cubs in person.

The national team is facing off against Argentina in a historic final tonight at 12 a.m. Moroccan time.

Each flight has a total capacity of 600 passengers per plane. Tickets are priced at MAD 10,000 for a round-trip in economy class. They are non-changeable and non-refundable, but include free entry to the stadium for the final.

According to Le360, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Ministry “played a crucial role” in addressing visa challenges, allowing fans to reach Santiago on time.

Viral videos online show Moroccans gearing up for the final, including at the airport, awaiting their flights to Santiago. The Atlas Cubs, according to coach Mohamed Ouahbi, are ready for the decisive game.

Ouahbi acknowledged that Argentina has “many strengths, particularly on the tactical side.” However, the U20 coach is determined that there is “no team that cannot be beaten.”

“The finals have their own unique dynamics and are often decided by small details,” Ouahbi said, stating that the Atlas Cubs are fully aware of their rival tonight.

Diego Placente, head coach of Argentina’s U20 national team, commended Morocco’s accomplishments during the World Cup in Chile, describing the Atlas Cubs as a “formidable opponent.”
