Barcelona sources say Lamine Yamal’s pubic discomfort has “practically disappeared”, though the teenager is still short of full fitness.
The 18-year-old winger has been dealing with a pubalgia issue since returning from international duty with Spain in September, a problem that has affected both his form and availability.
Yamal missed five matches and has struggled to find his usual explosiveness in those he has played. He briefly returned against Real Sociedad, helping Barça to victory, but the pain soon returned, ruling him out of the following game against Sevilla.
Reports say he even played through pain during last weekend’s El Clásico defeat to Real Madrid, with his movement and shooting ability said to be reduced by half.
Barcelona’s medical staff are managing his recovery carefully, aiming to restore his sharpness without rushing him back. “The discomfort is nearly gone,” a club insider told journalist Adria Albets, “but he’s still not entirely comfortable on the pitch.”
The club believe that once fully recovered, Yamal will regain the energy and confidence that made him one of Europe’s most exciting young players.
It has been a testing spell for the forward, who also faced off-the-pitch scrutiny after a light-hearted remark about Real Madrid before the Clasico drew hostility from opposition players and fans.
Despite that, Barcelona remain firmly behind him. According to Diario SPORT, they still see Yamal as central to their long-term project, symbolised by handing him the No. 10 shirt.
Alongside his agent Jorge Mendes, the club plans to guide the youngster closely — both to shield him from media pressure and to help him stay focused on his football.
At just 18, Barcelona are confident Yamal will come through this rough patch and return to being a decisive figure for the Blaugrana.
