Rabat – Real Madrid has decided not to punish Brazilian forward Vinícius Junior following his emotional reaction during the recent El Clásico against Barcelona.
The incident occurred during Madrid’s 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu, when Vinícius reacted angrily after being substituted by head coach Xabi Alonso in the 72nd minute.
As his number appeared on the substitution board, the Brazilian forward looked shocked and shouted, “Me, coach?” while raising his hands in disbelief.
Walking off the pitch, he reportedly yelled in Portuguese, “I’m leaving the team… it’s better if I go,” followed by an angry “F*** you all.”
As he left the pitch, Vinícius appeared visibly upset, bypassing the bench and heading straight to the dressing room without acknowledging his teammates or coaches.
The gesture sparked debate among fans and pundits, with some viewing it as disrespectful.
However, the club has chosen to interpret the moment as a “burst of emotion” rather than a disciplinary issue.
Senior figures at Valdebebas were reportedly displeased but understand the player’s frustration came from competitive drive.
The club believes calming tensions between Vinícius and Alonso is essential for team unity moving forward.
Vinícius, 25, has been a key figure for Madrid since joining from Flamengo in 2018. He is known for his explosive pace and dribbling.
He’s also had moments of controversy, often reacting strongly to referees’ decisions or trash-talking the opponents. This last incident adds to a pattern, but Madrid is choosing dialogue over discipline.
Wednesday is expected to be a decisive day, as Alonso and Vinícius will meet after two days of rest granted to the squad.
The coach has full authority to decide whether any internal fine is necessary, and his decision will be backed by the club.
