The Moroccan U17 national squad arrived on October 30 in Doha, Qatar, and is ready to start their journey at the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025, spanning from November 3 to 27.
The squad was in the United Arab Emirates for 10 days in a preparation camp before arriving in Qatar. The players faced Venezuela and Switzerland while in the Emirates. The first friendly was an exciting 3‑3 draw with Venezuela. The game highlighted Morocco’s attacking knack, but also showed that there was some work to do on the defensive side.
The second match against Switzerland had Morocco rebounding strongly with a 2‑0 win. Boukamara, in particular, led the way in providing an overall performance that gave their coach a better idea of the best eleven.
Morocco U17 World Cup experience
These friendlies couldn’t have come at a better time. The team will enter the World Cup after their historic victory at the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations where they won the title at home and defeated Mali in a penalty shootout.
That win has given these young players a real boost of confidence and momentum.
Regarding the World Cup, Morocco U17 team reached the quarter-finals in 2023, so they can handle the pressure.
But this year is the first time they’ll play in the 48-team format; a new challenge and opportunity.
Morocco is in Group B with Portugal, Japan, and New Caledonia which are tough opponents. Portugal and Japan are youth football powerhouses; every game will be a test. But with recent wins and experience under their belt, the young Atlas Cubs are ready to show they belong.
Now in Qatar, they are working on their tactics during their final training sessions. Everything has to be perfect before the kick-off. Fans at home and abroad will be watching.
With skills, determination and that Moroccan magic, the U17 can make an impact, go further than ever, and follow in the footsteps of Morocco’s U20 World Cup champions.
Let’s see these young talents sparkle.
