Marrakech – The Groupement des Annonceurs du Maroc (GAM) has elected Mehdi Yaroub as its new president. The announcement followed the organization’s Ordinary General Assembly held on October 6 in Casablanca.

Yaroub, who currently serves as Marketing Director for the Renault brand, was unanimously chosen to lead the association. He succeeds Youssef Cheikhi, who held the position for the past three years.

The newly elected executive board mirrors the diversity of Morocco’s economic landscape. It includes eight members from various sectors: Samya El Kyas (Atlanta Sanad) and Soufiane Al Khatiri (Centrale Danone) as vice-presidents, Kenza Ouali (Les Domaines Agricoles) as secretary general, and Younes Okba (Inwi) as treasurer.

Additional board members comprise Abdellatif Lhouaoui (ANP) as deputy treasurer, alongside assessors Fadoua Damiri (Marjane Holding), Fatima Zahra El Jai (Aradei Capital), and Youssef El Fechtali (Africorp).

During the assembly, members acknowledged the achievements of the outgoing board. They commended initiatives aimed at federating, regulating, and professionalizing the marketing, communication, digital, and media ecosystem in Morocco.

In his inaugural speech, Yaroub stressed continuity while also promising fresh momentum. “The GAM has, over the years, succeeded in bringing together advertisers around a shared vision for increasingly responsible, innovative, and effective communication,” he stated.

He added, “Building on this heritage, we are committed to continuing the momentum generated by the previous board by strengthening synergy between stakeholders.”

Yaroub also outlined his ambition to position Morocco as a regional center of excellence. “We aim to support the transformation of our ecosystem and affirm Morocco’s role as a regional hub for marketing and communication excellence,” he remarked.

The new president identified his strategic priorities moving forward. “This new mandate will focus on innovation and openness, with the determination to further amplify GAM’s impact on its members and the entire ecosystem,” he concluded.

Yaroub brings substantial industry experience to his new role. He has worked at Renault Group since 2008, occupying various strategic positions in sales and marketing functions both in Morocco and internationally.

His professional background includes roles as Regional Fleet & Used Cars Manager for the AMI Pacific Region and Sales & Marketing Manager for Morocco and Algeria.

The assembly also designated former presidents Mounir Jazouli and Youssef Cheikhi as honorary members of the organization. This recognition honors their contributions to advancing marketing and communication in Morocco.

Founded in 1984, the GAM represents advertisers’ interests and promotes best practices in marketing, communication, and digital fields. As a member of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), the organization works to build trust between businesses and consumers while providing members with opportunities for exchange, training, and collaboration.
