Rabat – Morocco’s women’s national futsal team, the Atlas Lionesses, will play two international friendlies against Spain on November 11 and 12 at the Pabellón Javier Lozano in Toledo, Spain, as announced by the Spanish Federation.

These matches are part of the team’s final preparations for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, which will take place in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7.

The two matches are scheduled for:

  • November 11 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)
  • November 12 at 7:00 p.m. (local time)

Preparation for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup

African champions, Morocco, led by Adil Sayeh, want to make the Kingdom and Africa proud at the first-ever Women’s Futsal World Cup organized by FIFA. The tournament in the Philippines is a historic moment for women’s futsal as it brings together the best teams in the world under FIFA’s official framework.

Competing against Spain, which is arguably one of the most technical and gifted teams in women’s futsal, will provide a significant benchmark for the Atlas Lionesses to measure their game shape, tactics, and team cohesion heading into the global competition.

Spain is also one of the most decorated teams in the world, with seven titles of UEFA Women’s Futsal Championships (1996, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016). These matches in Toledo will be an important opportunity for the Atlas Lionesses to assess their performance, only two weeks from the World Cup.

The matches will be held at the Pabellón Javier Lozano, a futsal facility in Toledo. The Spanish team is precise and tactically aware and will provide Moroccan players some experience against European opposition. These games are also about adapting and developing physical readiness, game tempo, and mental resilience before the tough tournament in Asia.

The Lionesses have taken great steps forward under Adil Sayeh’s direction in the past few years. Their African title in April 2025 guaranteed a spot in the World Cup and made them forerunners of the game at the continental level.

These friendlies with Spain are a step in that upwards trajectory, giving the national team the opportunity to hone and build confidence in advance of facing the best in the world.
