Rabat – Achraf Hakimi is expected to miss between three and five weeks after suffering an ankle injury during Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
According to French newspaper L’Équipe, Hakimi will undergo further medical tests to confirm the exact length of his absence.
The injury happened after a strong challenge from Bayern’s Luis Díaz, forcing Hakimi to leave the pitch in pain and tears just before halftime.
PSG confirmed that the defender will have detailed scans on Wednesday to assess the damage and decide on the best treatment plan. The club has not yet announced an official recovery timeline.
This injury comes at a difficult time for both Hakimi and the Moroccan national team. With the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to begin on December 21 in Morocco, there are now serious doubts about Hakimi’s ability to recover in time for the tournament.
Hakimi is one of Morocco’s key players and a leader in the squad. His absence would be a major blow to the team’s defense, especially with the tournament being hosted on home soil. The national team staff will be closely monitoring his recovery in the coming weeks.
The 27-year-old has been a regular starter for PSG and a standout performer for Morocco in recent years, including during the 2022 World Cup. His injury raises concerns not only for his club but also for fans hoping to see him play in AFCON 2025.
