Rabat – Abdeslem El Idrissi, a Moroccan professor at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York (CUNY), has again earned a place among the world’s top 2% of scientists for 2025.
A global ranking compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier once again recognized El Idrissi for his influential research in clinical medicine and neuroscience.
Youssef Amrani, Morocco’s ambassador to the US, celebrated the achievement, saying that the recognition reflects El Idrissi’s remarkable contributions to neuroscience and clinical medicine.
Recalling that El Idrissi has been included in the ranking for the second consecutive year, Amrani also described the professor as a source of pride for Morocco’s scientific community.
The ranking identifies and honors the most cited scholars in their respective fields. It is based on a composite indicator derived from six citation metrics, including total citations.
The ranking classifies researchers across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.
Ralf Peetz, Dean of Science and Technology at CUNY, highlighted the exceptional achievement of his vision, noting that the 12-full full-time faculty members are ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists in their respective disciplines.
“So proud to represent this Division,” Peetz said, congratulating the scholars, including El Idrissi.
El Idrissi is an experienced processor, with commendable skills in statistics, research, student affairs and higher education administration.
He holds a Ph.D. in Physiology and Neuroscience from the CUNY Graduate School.
