Rabat – The village of Oulad Abdoun, in the Khouribga region, was struck by tragedy late Tuesday night after an entire family lost their lives in a drowning accident.
The accident mobilized local authorities until the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to Ahmed Nabti, regional director at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Khouribga, the incident occurred around midnight when five members of one family drowned inside a water basin on a farm in the area.
“The victims, including four members of the same family and a fifth relative, fell into the water tank under unclear circumstances,” Nabti told SNRTnews.
Local sources reported that the accident began when the father slipped into the basin while attempting to clean it of mud. His sons rushed to help, followed by the mother and another family member, leading to the death of all five.
Emergency services, including civil protection and local authorities, were dispatched to the scene to recover the bodies, which were then transferred to the morgue of Khouribga’s regional hospital, pending instructions from the public prosecutor’s office.
The tragedy has left the small community of Oulad Abdoun in shock, as residents mourn the loss of an entire family.
