Rabat — The Defense Atlas Observatory posted on its official X account about a significant military development in Morocco.
The observatory, which tracks military news and publishes geostrategic analyses in North Africa, the Middle East, and around the world, reported on Israel’s opening of its BlueBird Aero Systems Ltd company in Morocco.
It reported that BlueBird Aero Systems Ltd, which specializes in drone systems, reportedly announced the opening of a factory in the North African country to produce Spy-X kamikaze drones.
The Defense Atlas cited a statement from the company on Wednesday that included photos of Moroccan technical teams currently training at its facilities in Israel.
The initiative forms part of a technology transfer (TOT) program that aims to equip Moroccan technicians with the skills they need to manufacture and develop next-generation drones locally.
The Spy-X is a precision tactical drone that can destroy tanks, armored vehicles, and troop concentrations within a 50-kilometer range.

It represents a major technological advancement for Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as it strengthens their capabilities in autonomous weapons systems.
The move comes as the North African country works on boosting its military to face any regional threats and deter attempts to destabilize the region.
Morocco raises defense budget, diversifies defense deals
In its recently-approved finance bill, the North African country has once again raised the budget allocated to defense, making it MAD 157.171 billion ($15.7 billion) for 2026.
Morocco has opened itself up to concluding armament deals with diverse powerful countries, including the US, Turkiye, and India.
The kingdom inaugurated the Indian company Tata Advanced Systems Maroc (TASM), deepening its armaments partnership with the country, with its first overseas defense manufacturing unit.
Earlier this year, Turkiye’s Baykar officially announced the establishment of a drone production factory in Morocco. It also revealed the delivery of a batch of Bayraktar Akinci advanced drones to the country.
Morocco appeared in late September in a list of countries that will benefit from the US Defense Department award of a new $27 million contract modification to General Dynamics Land Systems Inc. for Abrams tank technical support.
The North African country’s diversification of armaments deals and the establishment of ammunition factories say a lot about its determination to foster its military defense and secure regional stability.
