Rabat – Morocco’s Tourist Office (ONMT) announced that the Dutch Federation of the Tourism Industry (ANVR) is holding its annual congress in Morocco for the first time.
The event, under the theme “Connecting,” opened on November 13 and will continue until November 16.
The symposium, in partnership with ONMT, is bringing together representatives and decision makers from the Dutch tourism industry. Participants include tour operators, airlines, financial institutions, insurance companies, media, and academics.
Achraf Fayda, Director General of the ONMT, said hosting the event in Morocco affirms the country’s place among the world’s major tourism destinations.
He said this step also strengthens Morocco’s presence in the Dutch market, “ and a source of pride to see Rabat – City of Light and cultural capital – become the meeting point of European travel leaders.”
ONMT said by the end of August 2025, tourist arrivals from the Benelux region “have seen sustained growth,” with an 11% increase in Belgian visitors and a 14% rise in Dutch tourists compared with 2024.
On the sidelines of the Congress opening, the airline Transvania inaugurated on Thursday a new direct Amsterdam-Rabat route.
The flight will operate twice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, strengthening Rabat’s positioning as an ideal destination for short stays and business tourism.
ONMT said the flight inauguration will also make it easier for tourists to explore northern and central cities in Morocco, including Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fez, and Meknes.
“Within this initiative, the ONMT confirms its leading role in capturing and retaining high-potential European markets,” ONMT said.
Morocco’s tourism industry attracted 17.4 million tourists. Forecasts expect the North African kingdom to host over 18 million tourists this year.
