Rabat – Moroccan athlete Kalthoum Akhlouf won the gold medal on Friday in the women’s 45-50 kg Muay Thai category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Akhlouf earned her title after a strong and deserved victory against Iran’s Fershteh Hasan Zadeh Mirsadghi, winning 30-27 in the final fight held at the Boulevard Arena this evening.
The Moroccan champion dominated all rounds of the match, scoring 10/10 from the judges in each round, while her Iranian opponent received 9/9.
With this gold medal, Morocco’s total at the Games has now reached seven medals, including two gold, two silver, and three bronze.
Morocco is competing in Riyadh with a delegation of 76 athletes, participating in 12 sports, including athletics, judo, karate, taekwondo, wrestling, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, duathlon, para powerlifting, e-sports, futsal, and sports for people with disabilities.
The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multi-sport event organized by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF). Bringing together athletes from member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the event promotes unity, cooperation, and cultural exchange through sports.
The 2025 edition in Riyadh includes dozens of sports and gathers thousands of athletes from across the Muslim world. The Games run until 21 November, with competitions held in various venues around the Saudi capital. The event aims to highlight athletic talent, strengthen ties between countries, and encourage youth participation in sports.
