Amina Dehhaoui, a young taekwondo athlete on the rise from Morocco, has won the gold medal in the women’s -57kg division at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
In the final match, Dehhaoui proved a solid, careful winner against Maria Sainabou Marchlinski from Turkey, taking her overall score to 2-0. It was a great performance – she started strong with a 3-0 win in the first round, and carried that momentum with her into the second round where she edged it 2-1.
Speaking afterward, Dehhaoui said winning was “the result of all the hard work I’ve put in over the years. I am proud of this title, especially in a weight class that is considered one of the toughest on a global level.” And alongside gratitude to her coaching team for all the help and encouragement they gave her throughout the competition.

Her win also helped the Moroccan team overall. This gold now bumped the country’s total up to 11 medals (5 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze) and moved them up the overall standings.
This wasnt Amina’s first taste of success at the top level. In October 2024, she went on to win the gold medal in the under-55kg division at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea. These victories showed her potential on the international stage, with even more successes expected in the future.
