Rabat – Moroccan defender Ismaël Baouf is drawing interest from major European teams after strong performances with SC Cambuur in the Dutch Eerste Divisie.
Reports link Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord, and Ajax to the player, with scouts monitoring the U20 Atlas Cub closely ahead of the winter transfer window.
The 19-year-old defender scored in Cambuur’s Week 16 match against PSV Eindhoven, finishing in the 73rd minute.
Baouf earned a 7.1 rating, one of the highest in his squad, showing his positioning, tackling, and ability to read the game.
Analysts highlight his strength in duels and smart interceptions, making him one of the standout young defenders in the Netherlands.
The center-back’s rise began last month at the FIFA U‑20 World Cup in Chile, where he helped Morocco win the title.
He also played a key role in the U‑20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, guiding Morocco to the final. His composure and aerial presence makes him a leader in the defensive line and boosts his reputation on the international stage.
Baouf started his career in Belgium with Olympic Charleroi before moving to Royal Charleroi and Anderlecht.
His decision to represent Morocco has paid off, with his performances at the U20 World Cup opening the doors in Europe.
With interest from top clubs and consistent form in the Dutch league, a move in January is possible.
