Rabat — Morocco has won the Destination of the Year at the 2025 Travel Awards held on Friday in Brussels.
The Travel Awards gala took place in Skyhall at Brussels Airport, bringing together 1,000 travel professionals.
The award ceremony announced 36 winners for this year, including Morocco.
The event is organized by TRAVelMedia Belux, the publisher of “the leading Belgian travel sector magazines, TravMagazine BeLux and Travel 360,” Moroccan news agency, MAP wrote.
The award for Morocco comes as the North African country has been strengthening its global ranking and position in the tourism industry. The country continues to gain recognition for its cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and high-quality travel offerings.
Recently, Morocco celebrated a milestone in the tourism industry, securing the 13th position worldwide in the latest UN Tourism ranking.
Morocco continues to record millions of tourist arrivals in all seasons.
In 2024, Morocco recorded 17.4 million tourists. As of October this year, Morocco welcomed 16.6 million, with the number making a 14% increase compared to the same period a year earlier.
Morocco is expected to receive at least 18 million tourists by the end of 2025, with many observers and magazines expecting the record to reach the 20 million mark. The number is an achievable goal as Morocco prepares to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament will take place from December 21 to January 18. Fans from across the globe, including Europe, are booking their flights and tickets for the tournament, which is expected to contribute a significant increase in tourist arrivals in Morocco.
