Rabat – Real Madrid’s struggles continued in La Liga after a tense 2-2 draw away to Elche, a result that leaves serious questions about the team’s form.
Los Blancos have now gone three matches without a win, and the performance in Elche only deepened concerns about their direction under coach Xabi Alonso.
Madrid started with an unusual setup: Alonso opting for a back three and wing-backs despite injuries.
Dani Ceballos was given the creative midfield role, while Rodrygo partnered Kylian Mbappé up front.
Key players like Vinícius Júnior and Federico Valverde were left out of the starting lineup, a decision that surprised many.

Elche, known for their proactive style regardless of the opponent, pressed high, and created danger from the start.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois kept Madrid in the game with several saves, while Mbappé had two chances denied by Inaki Pena. The hosts eventually broke through in the 53rd minute when Febas finished a flowing move to make it 1-0.
Madrid responded with substitutions, and brought on Vinícius, Valverde, and Camavinga, but the team still lacked structure.
A header from Huijsen in the 78th minute leveled the score, only for former Madrid player Alvaro to restore Elche’s lead six minutes later. Just when defeat looked certain, Jude Bellingham struck in the 87th minute to secure a point.
The closing minutes were chaotic, with Elche reduced to 10 men after Chust’s late red card. Despite the frantic ending, Madrid could not find a winner.
For Alonso, the draw adds to growing pressure. Madrid remain at the top of the table, but their lead is fragile, and the lack of wins has sparked talk of a looming crisis.
With expectations remaining high at the Bernabeu, the coming weeks will be crucial for both the coach and his squad.
