Rabat – Nasser Larguet, former coach and technical director in Moroccan football, has given an update on Achraf Hakimi’s recovery process ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

Hakimi, one of the national team’s most important players, has been sidelined since suffering an injury against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

According to Larguet, Hakimi is following an intense rehabilitation program designed to get him back in time for the AFCON hosted in Morocco.

He explained that the Paris Saint-Germain defender is working “almost six hours a day” on recovery sessions, showing determination to return quickly and support his teammates.

PSG has also confirmed that Hakimi is under close medical supervision, with specialized treatment sessions to monitor his progress.

Hakimi’s absence has been felt both at the club and national level. For Morocco, his role as a right-back is vital, not only for defensive stability but also for his attacking runs and set-piece deliveries.

Since Morocco is hosting AFCON 2025, the pressure is high to have all key players fit, and Hakimi’s return is seen as crucial for the team’s chances of lifting the trophy at home.

This situation shows the importance of player management before major tournaments. Morocco has invested heavily in preparation, and Hakimi’s recovery is part of a broader effort to ensure the squad is at full strength.

Hakimi’s dedication shows the national team’s ambition to make history at home and win the Africa Cup of Nations, a trophy Morocco has not lifted since 1976  in Ethiopia.
