Rabat — Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) has secured first place among Moroccan universities in the recently released 2025 UI GreenMetric international ranking.
The institution has set itself ahead of Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and Mohammed V University of Rabat.
The UEMF university, which is located in Morocco’s spiritual city of Fez, also broke into the global top 400, competing against other 105 institutions from around the world.
The university has solidified its position, both in Morocco and on the international stage, through this achievement as a leader in scientific excellence and innovation.
The UI GreenMetric uses 51 separate indicators to evaluate universities, to specifically measure sustainable development goals, innovation, teaching quality, and research output. This approach provides a comprehensive assessment of institutional performance across multiple dimensions.
This recognition adds to a UEMF’s major achievements collected in 2025 alone. The university ranked first in Morocco and second in Africa — trailing only the University of Cape Town in South Africa — according to the Round University Ranking international assessment.
UEMF also won the International Alliance University of the Year 2025 award.
The Stanford-USA international ranking placed eight UEMF researchers among the world’s most impactful scholars, further demonstrating the institution’s research strength.
University officials attribute these results to UEMF’s ambitious strategy, which prioritizes high-quality teaching and research innovation, strong engagement with Morocco’s socioeconomic sector, internationalization, and the wellbeing of students and faculty members.
King Mohammed VI founded the university through his personal initiative and serves as its honorary president. UEMF has grown into what administrators now describe as a premier center for knowledge, practical skills, and personal development.
The university’s rise in international rankings reflects Morocco’s broader vision to develop world-class higher education institutions that can compete globally while serving national development goals.
