Rabat – Morocco is set to experience rainy and stormy weather on Friday, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology.

Showers and localized thunderstorms are expected, particularly over the central regions, the southeast, and the northwestern parts of the southern provinces.

Rainfall is also likely in areas north of El Jadida, the western Atlas region, and parts of the northern Sahara near Boujdour. Snowfall may occur on the peaks of the Atlas Mountains.

Temperatures will be relatively cold in the mountains, the southeast, and the high plateaus, with frost forming in the morning and at night.

Winds will sometimes be moderately strong, especially along the Mediterranean coast and the central and southern Atlantic coast, according to the weather authority.

Low temperatures will range from -3°C to 3°C in the Atlas Mountains and high plateaus, 9°C to 15°C in the desert regions and coastal areas, and 3°C to 9°C in other parts of the country. High temperatures will rise slightly in the eastern region but decrease in most other areas.

Sea conditions will vary, from calm to slightly rough along the Mediterranean, slightly rough to rough at the Strait of Gibraltar, rough to very rough between Asilah and Tan-Tan, and slightly rough to rough along the rest of the coast.

Regions across Morocco have seen a notable drop in temperatures in recent weeks, with heavy rain and snowfall in several provinces. Videos shared online showed heavy snowfall in several mountainous areas, causing many villages to struggle with isolation.

A video showed a snow-clearing truck arrive in Tizi N’ouarrab in the Ait Tamlil area of Azilal province to bring relief to residents who have been struggling because of blocked roads.
