Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology is expecting snowfall and rainfall to continue until Sunday in several Moroccan provinces.

The weather office said snowfall of 30 to 5 centimeters will affect several provinces from Friday to Sunday at 6 a.m.,  including Midelt, Boulemane, Ouarzazate, and Tinghir.

Snow of 10 to 30 centimeters will affect the provinces of Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, and Taroudant.

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with downpours of 25 to 35 millimeters are expected from Friday to Saturday, 6 a.m. in the provinces of Essaouira, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Agadir-Ida-Ou Tanane, and Chtouka Ait Baha.

The same weather will also affect Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, and Tarfaya.

Heavy rainfall producing 25 and 50 millimeters and thunderstorms is expected on Saturday from midnight to 6 p.m. in the provinces of Figuir, Boulemane, Errachidia, Zagora, Tinghir, Tata, and Midelt.

M’diq and Fnideq, Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Assilah, and Tetouan are also expected to experience rainfall between 25 and 35 millimeters, the weather directorate said.

Morocco has been witnessing decent rainfall since mid-November, reviving the country’s greenlands and water dams.

The country is also experiencing a cold snap, which urged authorities to launch the Riaya 2025-2026 campaign in support of areas affected by the cold waves.

The initiative, running from 15 November to 30 March 2026, aims to provide care and assistance to vulnerable communities during winter.

The operation covers 31 provinces, including  Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the Oriental region, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa-Tafilalet, Fes-Meknes, Souss-Massa, Marrakech-Safi, and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.

The main goal of the operation is to ensure an effective response to the needs of people in remote and cold-affected areas
