World Condemns Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland, Somalia Demands Immediate Reversal

Rabat – Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent state has spared outrageous international condemnation.

Somalia denounced the move as a hostile act against its sovereignty.

Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Omar, said his country views the act as a “State aggression.”

He vowed his country would pursue every diplomatic avenue to challenge the decision, urging Israel to immediately reverse its decision.

Israel announced its controversial decision on Friday, becoming the first country to take such an action.

The act triggered widespread international condemnation, with the Arab League and GCC also rejecting Israel’s stance.

They called Israel’s act a violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability.

“Any attempt to impose unilateral recognition constitutes an unacceptable interference in Somalia’s internal affairs and sets a dangerous precedent that threatens regional and international security and stability,” Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said.

He called Israel’s decisions “flagrant infringement of the principle of the unity and sovereignty of states.”

The AU echoed the same concerns, reaffirming that Somaliland is an integral part of Somalia.

The institution said that it firmly “Rejects any initiative or action aimed at recognizing Somaliland as an independent entity, recalling that Somaliland remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia.”

The European Union shared the same concerns, stressing that Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity must be fully respected.
