Rabat- Mozambique and Cameroon meet in their final Group F match at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 with qualification already secured, but a lot still at stake.
The encounter will take place on Sunday night at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, where group positions will be decided and the final standings will determine the Round of 16 fixtures.
Both sides have done enough in their opening two matches to book a place in the knockout stages. However, the outcome of this match will decide whether they finish first, second, or potentially drop to third place, which could affect their route in the knockout phase.
This will be the first meeting between Mozambique and Cameroon at the AFCON finals and their ninth encounter overall. Cameroon have dominated the fixture historically, winning seven of the previous eight meetings.
Their most recent encounters came during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Cameroon won 3–1 and 1–0 to advance to the World Cup in Qatar.

Mozambique arrive with confidence after claiming their first-ever victory at an AFCON finals, a dramatic 3–2 win over Gabon. The result ended a long wait for success at the tournament and secured their place in the knockout stage.
The Mambas have already scored three goals in this edition, their best attacking return after two matches at a single AFCON. Defensively, there are still concerns, as they have yet to keep a clean sheet, with every one of their AFCON matches producing goals.
Geny Catamo was the key figure against Gabon, finding the net and setting up another. He became the first Mozambican player to score and assist in an AFCON match and has now registered goals at two different tournament editions.
A strong result in this final group game would allow Mozambique to finish higher in the standings and potentially secure a more favorable Round of 16 draw.
Cameroon Team News
Cameroon started their tournament with a win over Gabon before coming from behind and draw 1–1 with Côte d’Ivoire. Those two results were enough to seal qualification with one group match still to play.
The Indomitable Lions have been reliable in front of goal, scoring in each of their last seven AFCON matches and in their last eight group-stage games. At the same time, defensive lapses remain, with goals conceded in six of their last seven appearances at the finals.
Cameroon also have a strong record in final group fixtures. They are unbeaten in their last four and have lost their third group match only three times in AFCON history.
Against Côte d’Ivoire, Junior Tchamadeu made headlines by becoming the youngest Cameroonian to score at an AFCON since 2017. Cameroon also hit the woodwork twice in that match, underlining their attacking intent.
With progression already secured, Cameroon may approach this game with balance rather than urgency, but finishing top of Group F would still offer a more favorable path in the knockout stage.
