Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced that a total of 8,913 police officers benefited from promotions for the 2025 budget year.
In a statement today, DGSN said the number represents 65% of all candidates listed on the promotion tables.
The beneficiaries for last year’s budget year include 6,033 uniformed police officers and 2,880 plainclothes officers.
DGSN said it “gave special attention to lower and mid-ranking officers,” pledging professional and objective criteria to allow the security services from this category to advance in their careers.
Around 509 personnel were promoted to the rank of police brigadier, while 2,717 were promoted to chief brigadier, and 1,040 to senior police inspector.
DGSN made its promotion decisions based on its personnel’s performance and annual assessments.
“The DGSN attaches great importance to promotion and ensures they occur annually and on schedule, given their central role in professional advancement and as one of the main administrative incentives,” DGSN said in its statement.
It concluded its note by encouraging police officers, both women and men, to” demonstrate greater sacrifice and dedication in fulfilling their noble duties of safeguarding citizens, protecting their property, and improving the quality of services provided to them.”
In December 2025, General Directorate of DGSN Abdellatif Hammouchi announced an exceptional financial bonus to all employees of the national police across the country, covering various central and regional departments and commands nationwide.
“This initiative falls within the framework of the financial and professional incentive system adopted by the General Directorate of National Security to encourage its staff to make greater efforts and sacrifices in serving national security and citizens,” DGSN said in a statement.
