Rabat – Morocco and Cameroon have a long football history, and their upcoming quarter-final match is far from the first time the two giants have often met on the continental stage. Overall, Cameroon hold the edge, in 13 meetings, they have won 7 times versus Morocco’s 2 wins, with 4 draws.

Brahim Diaz has been the star, scoring in every game so far, including the round of 16 winner against Tanzania. 

He is the first Moroccan to score in four straight AFCON matches. Morocco now have seven goals scored and just one conceded in the tournament, extending their unbeaten run to 23 games. 

Key players are Diaz with four goals, Ayoub El Kaabi with three, and captain Achraf Hakimi, who returned from injury to set up the winner against Tanzania. Midfielder Azzedine Ounahi is out injured, but Morocco still have depth and strong home support.

Cameroon also collected seven points in Group F. They beat Gabon 1–0, drew 1–1 with the Ivory Coast, and came from behind to defeat Mozambique 2–1. They scored four and conceded two in the group stage. 

Young forward Christian Kofane has impressed, scoring against Mozambique and again in the round of 16, where Cameroon beat South Africa 2–1. Junior Tchamadeu also scored in that match. 

Cameroon are five-time AFCON champions, but they miss key names like Vincent Aboubakar and Eric Choupo-Moting, while Carlos Baleba was injured against Gabon. 

Coach David Pagou has relied on a solid 3–4–1–2 setup with wing-backs and experienced players to carry them through.

Quarter-finalinal prediction

The quarter-final in Rabat brings together unbeaten Morocco and Cameroon. History favors Cameroon, but current form points to Morocco. The Atlas Lions scored seven goals in the group stage compared to Cameroon’s four and conceded one fewer. 

Morocco also have the higher FIFA ranking and the boost of playing at home. With Brahim Diaz in top form and Achraf Hakimi back, they look sharp and well-organized.

Cameroon rely on their knockout experience, having fought back against Mozambique and edged South Africa. They remain dangerous, but Morocco’s 23-game unbeaten run shows their strength under pressure.
