Rabat-Moroccan teenage forward Ziyad Baha has officially signed with Olympique de Marseille, leaving Spanish side Calavera to join one of France’s most historic clubs. The 16-year-old prospect announced the move on his Instagram account, a major step in his young career.

Baha has spent the past month training with Marseille’s youth setup, and after careful consideration, he chose to make the move, even though he had opportunities to continue with Real Betis in Spain. “A new chapter begins with Olympique de Marseille,” he wrote. “I have already been training and progressing in Marseille for a month. After reflection, I have chosen a different path, despite the opportunities to continue at Real Betis, because I wanted to take a step that corresponds to my ambitions and my development as a footballer.”

The young attacker said that the transfer represents a chance to push himself every day, continue learning, and face new challenges at a high level. “This new chapter is an opportunity to push myself every day, to continue to learn and to take on new challenges at the highest level. I approach this stage with ambition and determination and with one idea in mind: only forward,” he said in his post.

Baha first caught international attention with standout performances for the Morocco U17 national team, playing a decisive role in their U17 Africa Cup of Nations title win and scoring several goals at the U17 World Cup, where Morocco reached the quarter-finals.

At Marseille, he will continue his development with the club’s youth teams, with the long-term aim of breaking into the first-team squad.
