Rabat – Real Madrid may be facing a serious problem at a crucial stage of the season. Jude Bellingham’s injury, suffered against Rayo Vallecano, appears more severe than first expected.

The midfielder went down just minutes into the match after feeling sharp pain in the back of his thigh. He immediately clutched his hamstring and had to be substituted, visibly distressed as he covered his face with his shirt.

Medical tests later confirmed damage to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg. Initial club reports suggested a recovery time of about one month. However, journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon has warned that the absence could stretch to two months, doubling the expected layoff.

If this longer timeline is confirmed, Bellingham would miss several key LaLiga matches, including games against Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Getafe, Celta, Elche, and Atlético de Madrid.

The 22-year-old would also be unavailable for the Champions League playoff against Benfica. And if Madrid advances, he could miss a potential Round of 16 Match against Manchester City or Sporting CP.

This extended absence would be a major blow for the new coach Álvaro Arbeloa, who took charge of the team in January after Xabi Alonso was sacked.

Bellingham has been one of Real Madrid’s most influential players this season, and losing him during such decisive weeks could seriously affect their domestic and European ambitions.

For now, Madrid must prepare to navigate a demanding schedule without their star midfielder, hoping his recovery does not take longer than feared.

Jude Bellingham’s journey at Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham joined Real Madrid in June 2023 after leaving Borussia Dortmund. His transfer was officially announced on June 14, 2023, with a contract running until 2029.

In his first season (2023/24), he played 42 matches, scored 23 goals, and made 12 assists across all competitions. This debut year was one of the best for a new signing in Madrid’s history, as he became the team’s top scorer.

During the 2024/25 season, he featured in 45 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 9 assists. His consistency confirmed his importance to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

In the 2025/26 season so far, Bellingham has played 28 matches, scored 6 goals, and registered 4 assists, and he hasn’t found his momentum yet with the injuries he faced this season, but he is still one of the key players in Madrid in the midfield.
