Rabat – The Embassy of Morocco in Washington, DC has released an informational video to help Moroccan supporters prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
The guidance focuses on Morocco’s group-stage matches scheduled on American soil.
Morocco’s group stage matches in the United States
The Atlas Lions have been drawn into Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti. Morocco will open their campaign against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. local time.
The team will then head to Boston to face Scotland at Gillette Stadium on June 19, also at 6:00 p.m. Their final group-stage match will be played in Atlanta against Haiti at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 24.
The embassy shared practical information for fans traveling to the US, aiming to ensure smooth attendance and strong support for the national team.
Match tickets and visas
The first requirement is buying official match tickets through FIFA’s website. US authorities have introduced a “FIFA Pass” system to speed up visa appointments, but fans must have confirmed tickets before applying.
Supporters will need a US tourist visa (B-2). The process involves selecting the correct visa type, filling out the DS-160 form carefully, paying the fee, scheduling a consular interview, attending with all required documents, and tracking the passport through courier services once approved.
However, the US government has stressed that getting a ticket does not guarantee a visa, with a large possibility that applicants may still be denied.
Amid the travel restrictions, FIFA has gotten criticism for their choice in the US as a World Cup venue, with critics pointing to the fact that the football culture in America has not been as vibrant as other countries in years past.
However, with the excitement around the global tournament, that trend is starting to turn, with more Americans looking learning about the game, as well as the laws around sports betting. For fans based in the area, this guide to South Carolina betting laws has a detailed breakdown.
Travel arrangements and flights
For travel, Royal Air Maroc offers direct flights from Casablanca to Washington, New York, and Miami, with flight times between seven and eight and a half hours.
A new Casablanca-Los Angeles route will launch on June 7, 2026. Because of the long distances between host cities, the embassy recommends air travel, as it will take a considerable amount of time to go by train or car.
Before leaving, fans are advised to activate their foreign exchange allowance through banking apps, arrange full travel and health insurance, and book accommodation early due to high demand during the tournament. The embassy also urged supporters to review US customs rules to avoid carrying prohibited items.
During their stay in the United States, Moroccan supporters are encouraged to plan transportation between host cities.
Travel between New York and Boston can be managed by train, bus, or car due to the short distance, while flights are recommended for longer trips, such as to Atlanta. To stay connected, fans should activate roaming services or purchase an eSIM before departure.
The embassy also announced that special consular support cells will be set up in Moroccan consulates across the US to assist fans throughout the tournament. Emergency contact numbers will be provided, and supporters are urged to respect US laws and security rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable World Cup experience.
