Paris Saint-Germain have decided not to appeal the court ruling ordering the club to pay Kylian Mbappé €61 million in unpaid wages and bonuses, bringing a definitive end to a legal dispute that began shortly after the forward’s departure in 2024.

The decision follows a ruling by the Paris labor court, which determined that PSG owed the France international outstanding salary, bonuses, and contractual payments tied to the final months of his contract. The total amount, reported to be around €61 million, relates primarily to wages that were withheld during his last season at the club, as well as additional financial entitlements included in his agreement.

PSG had the option to challenge the verdict but ultimately chose not to pursue an appeal, signaling a clear intention to close the case and avoid extending a dispute that had become one of the most closely watched contractual conflicts in European football.

In its official statement, the club explained its reasoning: “In the interest of responsibility and in order to put a definitive end to a procedure which has lasted too long, the club has chosen not to prolong this dispute.”

Dispute rooted in Mbappé’s final year in Paris

The origins of the case date back to the 2023–24 season, when tensions escalated between PSG and Mbappé over his contractual situation. After informing the club that he would not extend his deal beyond June 2024, Mbappé was briefly excluded from first-team activities during the summer of 2023, reflecting the strained relationship between both sides.

Although he was later reintegrated into the squad and played a full season, disagreements persisted over financial commitments tied to loyalty bonuses and salary payments. Mbappé maintained that the club had failed to honor key terms of his contract, while PSG initially disputed those claims.

The labor court ultimately ruled in favor of the player, confirming that the club was legally required to pay the outstanding amount.

Mbappé’s departure in 2024 marked the end of one of the most significant eras in PSG’s history. His exit came at the end of his contract, allowing him to join Real Madrid on a free transfer after years of speculation linking him with the Spanish giants.
