Rabat—The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed a major increase in prize money for its two main club competitions, with the CAF Champions League winner now set to receive $6 million and the CAF Confederation Cup winner $4 million.
The decision was approved during the CAF Executive Committee meeting in February and backed by CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
The new amounts take effect immediately and apply to the final stages of the current 2025/26 season.
Prize money breakdown for 2025/26
The Champions League winner’s prize increases from $4 million to $6 million, a 50 percent rise. The Confederation Cup winner’s prize doubles from $2 million to $4 million. Here is the full breakdown:
Champions League:
- Winner – $6,000,000
- Runner-up – $2,000,000
- Semi-finalists – $1,200,000
- Quarter-finalists – $900,000
- 3rd & 4th in group stage – $700,000
- Preliminary rounds – $100,000
Confederation Cup
- Winner – $4,000,000
- Runner-up – $1,000,000
- Semi-finalists – $750,000
- Quarter-finalists – $550,000
- 3rd & 4th in group stage – $400,000

CAF confirmed that the total prize fund for the Champions League now stands at $19.6 million, and the Confederation Cup totals $11.9 million.
Clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds will also benefit. The participation grant has been doubled from $50,000 to $100,000 to help cover travel and organisational costs, especially for smaller teams.
The new structure applies to clubs qualified for the March 2026 quarter-finals, including AS FAR, RS Berkane (Champions League) Wydad and Olympic Safi (Confederation Cup).
CAF said the increases are possible because the organization has returned to profitability, driven by growth in television rights and sponsorship revenue. The ultimate goal is to make African club competitions more competitive and financially stronger in the long term.
